The Hardin Lady Hornets had to deal with foul trouble and too many turnovers and the combination usually does not fare well and East Chambers took advantage at home with a 45-33 win in a big district tilt.

In a low scoring opening quarter,  Hardin got their first field goal of the night nearly 5 minutes in as Kourtney Benefield got a steal and scored to keep the Lady Hornets close at 4-3. The Lady Bucs ended the opening quarter on a 6-2 run to lead 10-5.

Hardin started the second period with an offensive rebound and score by Madison Boston to make it a 10-7 game. East Chambers then answered with a 9-0 run to make it a 19-7 advantage. Jaylyn Davis ended the run with a jumper to make it 20-9 with 3:00 left in the first half of play.

Down 22-11 at the half, the Lady Hornets put together their best run of the night. Davis started the third quarter with a three-pointer and then a drive by Benefield cut the deficit to 22-18 and Hardin was on a 7-0 run.

Back came the Lady Bucs with a 12-4 run of their own give them a double digit lead again at 34-24 heading into the fourth period. The Lady Hornets did get within 40-31 with 3:55 remaining in the contest as Jenna Fregia scored on the inside. East Chambers then pulled the ball out and started milking the clock, and after making some free throws down the stretch, the home team had the win.

Benefield and Davis each scored 7 points apiece to lead the way for Hardin, while Boston finished with 5.

The Lady Hornets will visit Kountze on Friday night.
