CLEVELAND — Khloe Fussell had a double and triple to go along with three RBIs at the Lady Indians Tournament last Thursday as they opened play with a solid 9-2 victory over Tarkington. The Lady Indians jumped on the Lady Horns in their first at-bat, with Fussell tripling to score Kaniya Waller and Gracia Brandon for a 2-0 lead.

Saleen Oviedo then followed with an RBI single and then a double by Addyson James made the score 4-0.

Tarkington cut the deficit in half in the top of the third inning.

Savannah West and Addie Wood singled and then Shelbie Chamblee scored a run with a groundout to make it 4-1.

Abby Peachee followed with an RBI single to plate Wood and the deficit was down to 4-2. Gabriela Rodriguez had a nice diving catch for the Lady Indians in the inning, or the damage would have been worse.

Cleveland then put the game away with five runs in the fourth inning.

Waller singled and then Lee reached on an error. Fussell doubled to make it 6-2 and Destaney Leal followed with a single.

Fussell would score on a fielder’s choice and a couple of hitters later, it was Fabiola Sauceda with an RBI single for a 9-2 advantage.

James struck out six in getting the win on the mound for the Lady Indians.

Jaiden Massie was saddled with the loss for Tarkington.
