Lady Indians fall late to College Park 7-5

CLEVELAND —The Lady Indians gave College Park fits on Thursday night at home before the Lady Cavaliers scored a couple of runs in the seventh inning to pull out a 7-5 district win.

Khloe Fussell enjoyed a huge night for Cleveland at the plate with three doubles and three RBIs.

College Park scored a run in their first at-bat, and the Lady Indians responded with a run of their own.

Fussell doubled and then scored as Chelsea Sauceda reached on an error and the score was tied at 1-1.

Cleveland grabbed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Kaniya Waller reached on an error, and Destaney Leal singled to put runners on first and second. Gracie Brandon then moved both runners up a base with a sacrifice bunt. Fussell then doubled down the right field line to score two and the Lady Indians led 3-1.

The Lady Cavaliers came back with two runs in the third and fourth innings to move back in front 5-3.

The score stayed the same until Cleveland tied things up in the sixth.

Waller led things off with a single. The next two hitters for the Lady Indians would be retired, with Waller moving to second base.

Gracie Brandon then singled to score Waller, and the deficit was down to 5-4. Fussell followed with a double to plate Brandon and the score was tied at 5.

In the seventh inning, College Park got a one-out single, followed by a tworun homer for the win.

Cleveland had a couple of runners reach in the bottom half of the inning before the Lady Cavaliers would get the final out for the win.

Addyson James pitched a complete game for the Lady Indians and finished with five strikeouts. Saleen Oviedo and Fabiola Sauceda each added two hits each for Cleveland.
