Lumberton’s Brooklyn Bass scored two goals and captured MVP honors for the East as they grabbed a 4-1 victory over the West on Tuesday evening in the SETCA Girls Soccer All-Star Game at Houston Methodist Field at Bronco Stadium.

Teammate Lauren Locicero of Lumberton scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute to give the East a 1-0 lead.

Four minutes later, Abigail Hickman of West Brook tied the score with a goal to even the score at 1-apiece. In the 24th minute, Bass scored her first to give the East the lead again 2-1.

In the 2nd minute of the second half, Liberty’s Emalee Villarreal almost found the net, but her shot was just off.

Midway through the second half, Bass launched a shot from 30-yards out and found the nets to make the score 3-1.

The game’s final score came eight minutes later, with Locicero getting her second of the game, and the lead was 4-1.

“This was a great honor to get a chance to take part in this game,” said Villarreal.

Villarreal, who also played in the volleyball game for the Lady Panthers, was surprised about getting picked for the soccer game also.

“I thought I had a good chance for the volleyball game, but the soccer game completely took me by surprise. I am honored they thought of me for both games.”
