Liberty takes down Livingston 8-3

Posted in:

Down by two runs heading into the fifth inning, the Liberty Panthers scored seven runs in the last two innings to come from behind to take a big 8-3 district win over the Livingston Lions on Friday night at City Park Field.

Palmer Simeon had two hits and two RBIs at the plate to lead the way for Liberty; trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Panthers bats got going.

Jaden Shimp singled with one out, and then Mason Goudeau reached on a twobase error. Simeon singled to score Shimp and Liberty was down 3-2.

Kaden Nolan then singled to tie the score at 3-apiece.

A Caleb Ingram triple would follow that into the gap, and the Panthers led 4-3.

Cameron Payne made it 5-3 with a single.

In the sixth, Liberty added three more insurance runs as Goudeau had an RBI double, and then Simeon made it 7-3 with a sacrifice fly.

Nolan then scored Goudeau on an error by the Lions center fielder and an 8-3 advantage.

Nolan pitched the final two innings and struck out four to get the win on the mound.

Goudeau also had two hits for the Panthers.
