Local runners compete at invitational

HUFFMAN - The Lake Houston Cross Country Invitational took place on Thursday morning at Huffman High School and Liberty’s Patrick Flowers stepped up in class to run in the 5A/6A boys race and took third place with a time of 16:04.5.

Peyton Snapp of Dayton crossed the finish line in eighth place while teammate Jaxon Asbill was in 11th place. Jacob Thomas of the Broncos was in 16th place and Isaac Ramirez was 36th. The Dayton boys team took fourth place in the team totals.

In the 5A/6A girls race it was Morgan Campbell of Port Neches-Groves winning another race. Dayton’s Maiyah Phoummarath was in 9th place while teammate Linda Bibbs was right behind her in 10th.

In the 4A and under boys race, Matthew Morin of Liberty finished in 3rd place. Dalton Bishop was in 30th place while Victor Urvina was 33rd. Brayden Armstrong of Hull-Daisetta was 44th.

On the girls side it was Huffman’s Jetzibe Trevino winning first place in going away fashion. Tarkington’s Raylee Millard was 10th, and the Lady Panthers Julianne Shivers was 13th. Kaylei Armstrong of Hull-Daisetta crossed the finish line in 18th place. Liberty’s Alyssa Caruso was 38th and the Lady Cats Kaidyn Smith finished in 45th place.

Liberty will be hosting the District 19-4A race this morning at City Park.
