Nearly 1,300 runners compete at Tony Munson Invitational

It was a banner day for the Tony Munson Invitational held at Liberty’s City Park on Saturday morning as nearly 1,300 cross country runners took part. “It was a great day for the race with the weather being perfect,” said Liberty Head Coach Joe Roberts. “We also broke the junior high record for numbers of signed up.”

Roberts boys team finished in fourth place in the 4A division while the girls took seventh in the team totals. Patrick Flowers finished fourth to lead the boys while Matthew Morin finished strong also in 6th. Rene Romero was also top 10 for Liberty with a 9th place showing. Also competing for the Panthers were Marcos Gerardo, Javier Zavala, Bruno Aleman, Hector Lira, Ricardo Garcia, Chris Tiscareno, and Chris Diaz. On the girls side, it was Julianna Shivers leading the way with a 12th place finish. Kaylee Hernandez, Valerig Torres, Daen Gutierrez, Lexi Chaparro, Abby Colburn. Jocelyn Diaz, Evelyn Aguilar, Janet Del Rio, and Adamari Sifuentes also competed for the Lady Panthers. Liberty will take part at the Dayton Bronco Invitational on Saturday.
