DAYTON- Once again, the Blake Ware Football Camp was a huge success, as young Broncos braved the warm weather and took part in learning skills on the gridiron.

The camp was held last Wednesday- Friday afternoon at the Dayton practice fields and 125 campers were present.

The camp was broken down into positions that the campers played and the Broncos coaching staff put campers through several drills.

“ We actually had 145 kids registered for the camp,” said Dayton Head Coach Blake Ware. “I was really excited about the numbers because it keeps rising every year. There is a lot of excitement with Bronco football and the future looks very bright.”

Ware has 21 coaches on his staff, with some new faces for this season.

The Vindicator | Jerry Michalsky “This was not only good reps for the kids, but also for our new coaches on staff,” added Ware.

Also helping out the coaches were 15- 20 varsity football players.

“ We did not ask them to be here. They wanted to be here,” said Ware of his varsity players. “We are looking for consistency in the culture here and this is what we have been working towards. It just says something about the kids we have here.”

For the older kids attending camp, this was an introduction to Bronco football and a start toward what practice would be like.

“Culture is very real and it can be an overused word,” added Ware. “There is culture and unselfi shness in our football program and that is what being a team is all about. I am more than pleased in the growth and direction in our football program here.”

The Broncos are coming off a playoff appearance from a year ago, and Dayton is expected to be right in the thick of the district race again.

There was water all over the field for campers and lots of energy from the coaches and players helping out.

Practice for the Broncos will start on July 31, with Dayton’s first scrimmage coming on August 11 at home against Huffman.
