THOUGHTFUL THINGS

Leave it in God’s Hands

In life, we often find ourselves overwhelmed— burdened with worries about our family, finances, future, relationships, health, and ministry. We pray, we cry, we seek God, and in moments of desperation, we lay it all at His feet. But how many times do we walk away from the altar only to pick that burden back up again, carrying it as if we can fix it better than the Lord can?

Leaving it in God’s hands means surrendering our will, our timeline, and our expectations. It means trusting that the One who formed the heavens and the earth can also handle the details of our lives. But true surrender is not just a moment—it’s a daily choice.

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) God invites us—commands us—to cast all our care upon Him. Not some. Not just the easy stuff. All of it. Why? Because He cares. He cares about your stress at work. He cares about your children. He cares about that secret pain no one else sees. And He is able to do what we cannot.

Yet, often we find ourselves in prayer, laying down our burdens, but spiritually walking back and picking them up again. It’s like giving God the steering wheel but keeping one hand on it “just in case.” That’s not trust—it’s fear disguised as faith.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) God doesn’t need our help figuring things out. He needs our obedience, our trust, and our willingness to step aside so He can do what only He can do. We must remind ourselves: He sees the whole picture. We only see a piece.

When we truly leave something at the feet of Jesus, we are acknowledging that He is sovereign. That He is wiser. That He is loving, and that He works all things together for our good ( Romans 8:28). Even when we don’t understand the timing or the method. Sometimes God will allow things to remain unsettled for a season because He’s working on something deeper— our hearts, our faith, our dependence on Him. The waiting is not punishment; it’s preparation.

So don’t rush back to grab the burden you’ve already laid down. Don’t try to fix what God is trying to heal. Don’t undo the surrender you already committed to. Let God be God. And when fear creeps in again, choose to trust again. Leave it in God’s hands.
