Leo Wilson honors Juneteenth

ANAHUAC–– Susan Leblanc, district director for Texas House District 23 Rep. Terri Leo Wilson, presents a Certificate of Recognition to the Juneteenth Organization at the 27th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 21 at G.W. Carver Park.  

During the 89th Legislative Session, Leo Wilson passed a resolution naming Galveston the Juneteenth Capital of Texas for 10 years and secured $7 million to establish the Juneteenth Museum of Galveston.  

The Anahuac celebration is a family-friendly event focusing on African American freedom, unity, education and empowerment.  

Juneteenth Organization board members include Secretary Ira Jean Echols, Ph.D., board member JoAnn Finnels, Treasurer Vanessa Dever, President Rev. Jerald Williams and Vice President Gilbert O. Speights.
