THOUGHTFUL THINGS
Living a Holy Life Pleasing to God
To live a life that is pleasing to God is to live a holy life—one set apart, dedicated to righteousness, and guided by His Word. Holiness is not about perfection in our own strength, but about daily surrender, obedience, and a desire to reflect the character of Christ. It is God’s will that His people live holy, not blending in with the world, but standing out as vessels of honor.
Romans 12: 1 ( KJV) says, “ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Holiness is not optional—it is our reasonable response to God’s mercy. When we surrender ourselves to Him, we make a conscious decision to live differently, to say no to sin and yes to righteousness.
1 Peter 1:15-16 (KJV) gives us a clear command: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” Holiness isn’t confined to Sunday mornings or religious acts—it affects every conversation, every choice, every relationship. God calls us to be holy because He is holy, and He desires us to reflect His nature.
Living holy also means separating ourselves from sin. 2 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV) declares, “ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” While we are in the world, we are not to be of it. Holiness means setting boundaries, guarding our hearts, and being mindful of what we allow into our lives.
Hebrews 12:14 (KJV) reminds us how serious this calling is: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” Holiness is not just a lifestyle—it is a requirement for those who want to see God and live in His presence. It’s not about legalism or self-righteousness, but about loving God so much that we want to please Him in everything we do.
Living holy means being guided by the Spirit and walking in obedience. Galatians 5:16 (KJV) encourages us, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” We can’t live holy lives without God’s help. As we walk with Him daily, He gives us the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to choose righteousness.
Let our lives be a reflection of God’s holiness, bringing Him glory in word, thought, and deed.
