Lady Panthers pick up wins at tourney
SOUR LAKE– The Anahuac Lady Panthers went into play last weekend on a nine-game losing streak, and they were looking to change course at the Hardin-Jefferson Tournament.
Anahuac played three days of volleyball, and they managed to get a couple of wins over the three-day tourney.
On Thursday, Anahuac opened up against Chester and fell in a tough three-game match 25-22, 12-25, and 14-16.
Madison Willis led the Lady Panthers with five blocks while Rai' Ana Lewis finished with four.
Anahuac then picked up a win over a non-varsity opponent 25-23 and 25-14. Willis served up three aces in the victory.
The Lady Panthers final match was against Splendora, in which they lost in straight sets.
On Friday, Anahuac lost matches against Warren, Hamshire-Fannett, and the host Hardin-Jefferson squad.
Saturday, the Lady Panthers fell to Kountze before ending the tournament on a positive note with a straight-set win over Evadale, 25-18 and 25-23.
Lewis and Addilynn Pierce led the way with three kills each, while Sky Hedges was the leader with four blocks.
Anahuac will return to action on Friday afternoon as they host Orangefield.
