DAYTON– Liberty County Constable Precinct 4 Constable Robby Thornton's office completed another drug investigation, and in the process made two arrests and discovered a small child living in unsafe conditions.

After receiving a tip about drugs being sold from an RV park on Goose Creek Street in Dayton, investigators with Precinct 4 began surveillance.

During the investigation, it was learned that marijuana and Delta 9 THC vape cartridges were being sold to youth in the area.

Once probable cause was established, investigators obtained a search warrant from 75th State District Judge Michelle Merendino.

Alongside the Dayton Police Department, the warrant was served on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and law enforcement took Pedro Davila, Jr., and Alizay Maldonado into custody.

During the search, an 18-month-old infant was discovered at the RV, and authorities found that the conditions of the home were "unsatisfactory, making an unsafe and unclean environment for the child," according to Precinct 4 information.

The search resulted in the discovery of around 1.5 pounds of suspected marijuana, and around 980 grams of suspected Delta 9 THC vape cartridges and suspected Delta 9 THC edibles.

It was also discovered that unopened packages of THC edibles and used THC vape cartridges within the child's access were scattered throughout the RV, according to a press release.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Liberty County Jail on charges of:

  • Possession of marijuana, 4 ounces – 5 pounds – state jail felony

  • Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2A, 400 grams or more – aggravated first degree felony

  • Child endangerment – state jail felony
