ANAHUAC— In an effort to bring hope in what can be the most difficult times, colorful and uplifting messages are spread across the Chambers County Courthouse sidewalk.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, Bay Area Turning Point held its annual Chalk the Walk event for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, spreading positive and hopeful messages to survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault as they walk into the courthouse.

"To raise awareness for women, children, and men that have endured experiences with domestic violence, we are inviting the community to come out, grab a few pieces of chalk, and write or draw inspirational quotes, pictures, or symbols of encouragement and resemblance," Victim Advocate Jarnae Williams said.

Representatives of various law enforcement agencies were in attendance to show support and share inspiring messages.

"Bay Area Turning Point's vision is 'Peace for every woman, every child, every man...every day.'" The non-profit organization provides immediate crisis intervention as well as counseling and other services to those affected by domestic and sexual assault.

The 24-hour crisis hotline is 281-286-2525.

The Chambers County Satellite Office is at 2202 South Main St., Anahuac. The phone number for that office is 409-267-4337.
