Orangefield doubles up East Chambers 56-28
WINNIE– The Orangefield Bobcats jumped out to a quick start and never looked back on Friday night at Buccaneer Stadium in a 56-28 victory over East Chambers to clinch second place in the district.
Bobcats quarterback Carson Gonzales enjoyed a big night by accounting for six touchdowns. Gonzales passed for 226 yards and three touchdowns while adding another 132 yards rushing and three more touchdowns.
The Bobcats led 14-0 in the first quarter and then outscored the Buccaneers 21-14 in the second quarter to lead 35-14 at the half.
Freshman Rashard Hale returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown for East Chambers. Koby Jones led the ground game with 70 yards rushing on nine carries, while Luke Hampton and JD Zurby each ran for a touchdown. Hank Huff passed for a touchdown, which went to Hampton.
The Buccaneers are now 7-2 on the season and finish district play with a 4-2 record. East Chambers will now wait and see who they will face in the first round of the playoffs.
