Lady Panthers pick up 2nd win of the season at HD
Anahuac senior point guard Callie Henicke pushed the ball up the court against the Hull-Daisetta Lady Cats in non-district play last week. Henicke had 14 points in the game, which was the Lady Panthers second win of the season.
DAISETTA– Lanecia Schonberg scored 16 of her team high 24 points in the first half, and the Anahuac Lady Panthers picked up their second win of the season last Tuesday afternoon with a 64-39 decision over the Hull-Daisetta Lady Cats in non-district play.
The Lady Panthers' big win was their second of the season and pushed their overall record to 2-2. The Lady Cats season record dropped to 0-5.
Callie Henicke added 14 points and scored eight of those in the opening quarter as Anahuac led 22-5 at the end of the first quarter. Henicke had a couple of three-pointers in the opening eight minutes.
Schonberg then put up 12 points in the second quarter as the Lady Panthers increased their lead to 41-16 at the break.
Hull-Daisetta came out in the third quarter and outscored Anahuac 15-7 in the period to pull within 47-31 heading into the fourth and final quarter.
The Lady Panthers came back and won the final quarter 17-8 to get the 27-point win.
Rai' Ana Lewis also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Freshman Amya Patterson led the Lady Cats with 27 points for the game. Patterson had 17 of those in the second half.
Anahuac will take part in the High Island Tournament this weekend, while Hull-Daisetta will play in the Big Sandy Tournament.
