Chambers County recently announced that it has received a special designation, highlighting the county’s efforts and commitment to emergency preparedness, planning and public safety.

Chambers County announced on Monday, Jan. 12, that it has officially been designated as a Weather-Ready National Ambassador and StormReady Community.

“Chambers County has long set the standard for preparedness, planning, and emergency response,” Chambers County Judge Jimmy Sylvia said. “These designations reinforce that commitment and demonstrate our dedication to protecting the long-term health and safety of our residents. Congratulations to Emergency Manager Ryan Holzaepfel and his team on this well-deserved recognition.”

The Weather-Ready National Ambassador designation recognizes organizations that support the National Weather Service’s mission to improve community resilience against extreme weather and climate events, according to a press release.

The StormReady recognition is given to communities that meet standards for severe weather preparedness, communication and emergency response, according to the release.

The county earned these recognitions through its proactive emergency management approach.

Through coordinated response planning, strong communication systems and public education efforts, the county remains committed to protecting the community during severe weather events.

“We remain committed to keeping residents informed so they can make the best decisions for their families and property,” said Chambers County Emergency Services Chief Ryan Holzaepfel. “These designations recognize that ongoing effort, and we will continue providing timely information and guidance as future issues arise.”

Chambers County Emergency Services works year-round with local, state, and federal organizations to prepare for severe weather and other emergencies.
