CDBG-DR buyout application period extended

Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is extending the CDBG-DR Buyout application period through Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Montgomery County has been awarded funding through the federally funded Community Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) for homeowners who were impacted by the 2016 floods and Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The buyout program will purchase properties with the land being maintained in perpetuity as open space to mitigate future disasters. Homeowners interested in a buyout must apply for the program and be found eligible.

In an effort to work with individual homeowners on questions, concerns, or the completion of their application packet there will be an Application Intake Center for individuals to visit and meet with a member of the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (MCOHSEM) staff. The dates and locations of those sites are:

  • North County — Lone Star Convention Center, 9055 Airport Rd. Conroe, TX 77303 — Wednesday, Feb.26, 1-7 p.m.
  • East County — Patton Village, 16940 Main St. Splendora, TX 77372 — Sunday, March 1, 12-5 p.m. and Monday, March 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • West County — West Montgomery County Community Center, 31355 Friendship Dr. Magnolia TX 77355 — Thursday March 19, 1-7 p.m.
  • South County — Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center, 1300 Riley Fuzzel Rd. Spring, TX 77386 — Friday, March 20, 1-7 p.m.
  • MCOHSEM — By appointment only. Call: 936-523-3900. Available until March 30, 2020.

Applications and all supporting documentation are due no later than Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
