“Fear of Failure”

Posted in:

It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.~Theodore Roosevelt

“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” ~ William Shakespeare

“They fail, and they alone, who have not striven.” ~ Thomas Bailey Aldrich

Wow! What powerful words of wisdom that we should all pattern our lives after. I was pondering on this thought, and these quotes came to mind, and I then begin to think how this applies to our daily lives and our walk with God.

I ask myself this question…. Do I live in fear of failure? Yes! Every day the thought of fear of failure creeps up and tells me that I cannot do what I know God has called me to do. We all face a certain amount of fear or intimidation daily in life, but when it becomes what determines your outcome or productivity, then it is time to take authority over that fear. The bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

We all get caught up in the stress and daily activities of life, and we sometimes forget that this is how the devil preoccupies our minds so that we do not strive to be about the Father’s business. It is easier to say, “I have been so busy that I have not had the time to do” whatever it is that you should be doing for your family, for your self or for the kingdom of God.

Once the devil has you preoccupied, then he does not have to worry about you doing what you need to do. When you are busy doing oth er things, then you forget, and for a moment you are not having to fight that fear. That is how the devil works. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Yes, I am sure that it does. But it is God’s will for us to be productive. We must fight against the fear and intimidation that is increasing every day and when we are filled with fear, then we are not able to develop and use the gifts that God has given us to help others and to help ourselves. With God, all things are possible; it may not happen instantly, but keep the Faith it will. Always have Faith over fear. Fear is Faith in the enemy, and we are not going to allow the enemy to take our future away. My quote is this “I will not fear failure, I will only fear what will happen to others if I do not accept what God has called me to do.”
