Nailah Donatto, a member of the Liberty High School Choir has earned the prestigious honor of being named a Texas AllState Musician. Despite the innumerable challenges encountered throughout this school year, 2021 All-Staters remained committed to their personal musical development. They demonstrated the very perseverance and dedication that ongoing participation in a music program fosters.

Dayton City Council recognized very deserving Community Champions Monday evening, January 25, at its regular Council meeting. The first award went to Dayton ISD Teachers, Administrators, and Staff in sincere gratitude for their dedication to the students of Dayton ISD at all times, but especially during this time of pandemic. Dr. Jessica Johnson introduced two of the district’s exemplary teachers who were also named Teachers of the Year: Elementary — Alicia Cox who is an instructional coach at Kimmie Brown Elementary and Secondary — Jake Walker who is an Ag Teacher.

On that last day of the fall semester, Dayton ISD recognized and celebrated its first-year teachers. This year has been a challenge for all educators, but DISD’s first-year teachers have risen to the challenges and have done an amazing job. On Friday, January 15, 2021, in partnership with the local Mu Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society Internation, a professional organization for women educators, DISD staff hand-delivered words of praise, celebration, and encouragement, as well as a small gift bag of classroom supplies to each first-year teacher in the district. The gift bags are provided by the Mu Iota Chapter as their annual service project to promote the growth of educators and excellence in education. DISD is so glad these promising new educators have joined the Bronco family and we look forward to many years of dedicated service from these individuals.

Students from the Cleveland High School Welding Program attended the Lamar Institute of Technology Welding Certification and Competition event, held Friday, Jan. 15 in Beaumont. Members of the program competed in an array of different events during the welding competition, five students receiving their certifications, meeting AWS (American Welding Society) standards. For the students to compete in the welding competition their weld first had to pass certification per AWS standards then they were judged accordingly.
