The Dayton Broncos boys and girls cross country teams ran against some of the best in the Area on Saturday morning in the Region III Preview Meet in Huntsville. Anthony Parra from Lockhart won the boys side. Peyton Snapp of Dayton finished in 17th, with Isaac Ramirez placing 40th. Jacob Thomas also put in a good performance at 49th place with teammate Avery Toole at 55 and Javier Mayorga at 60th. Diego Cruz, Ryans Parks, Robert Spotswood, and Carlos Pineda also ran for the Broncos. Leading the way for the ladies was Jessica Plascencia, with a fine finish of 4th place. Maiyah Phoummarath came across in 37th place while Samantha Sanchez finished at 42nd. Eleora Ellison and Nevaeh Ives also competed for the Lady Broncos. Dayton will take part at the Tony Munson Invitational in Liberty on Saturday morning.

Ashley Duran finished in 33rd place. Hardin had Brittany Rosas, Brianna Stuart, and Emma Hebert also taking part in the race. The Lady Hornets will run at the Tony Munson Invitational in Liberty on Saturday morning.

Kaylie Armstrong led the way with a 25th place finish, and teammate Delila Dao was right behind in 29th. Kaidyn Smith was also close to her teammates with a 32nd place finish. Read moreThe Liberty Panthers won their third game in a row Friday night and improved their season record to 3 and 1 by defeating the Shepherd Pirates 21-10. Several big plays by Liberty and their tough defense proved too much for the boys from San Jacinto County. Liberty put up 233 yards on 39 plays from scrimmage. Their leading rusher was senior Jolan Curtis, who had 72 yards on 12 carries. Quarterback Kaden Nolan was 1 for 6 passing. That one reception, however, was a 28-yard touchdown pass to senior Mason Goudeau. The Panthers were penalized 3 times for 23 yards. They also fumbled 3 times, losing 2 of them. Liberty’s key to success was again their defense that held Shepherd to just 131 yards, forced 5 punts and 3 turnovers-on-downs. The leading Pirate ground-gainer was freshman Preston Stephens with 12 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. Shepherd was penalized 5 times for 45 yards. Junior Quarterback HD Green was 2 for 12 passing with one interception.

The Indians had shown some big improvement in wins over North Forest and Waller, but unfortunately the Mustangs had some other ideas in store for the Indians in a 41-14 drubbing.
Read moreThe Dayton Lady Broncos moved to 2-1 in district play on Friday night with a three-game sweep over the Cleveland Lady Indians 25- 6, 25-14, and 25-10. It was actually a sweep for the whole program as the JV and freshman also won their matches. Leading the way for the varsity Lady Broncos in kills was Jerrica Keener with 8, and Laila Beck finished close behind with 7. MyKala Souders led the way in assists with 17. Dayton will host Conroe Caney Creek on Friday afternoon.
