Anahuac welcomes 75 players at opening practice
ANAHUAC— The Anahuac Panthers wasted little time in hitting the practice fields on Monday morning as Greg Neece's squad was out there at 6:30 am.
"It was a good turnout for us," said Neece. "We had about 75 kids at practice, and it was a good way for us to get things started."
Last year, the Panthers finished 6-4 on the season and 3-3 in district, with a week 10 loss to Coldspring, 36-28, that kept them out of the playoffs.
This year, Anahuac aims to return to the playoffs after narrowly missing out in 2024.
The Panthers will hold their annual team scrimmage on Saturday morning at Kyle White Stadium, followed by scrimmages against Liberty and Hardin-Jefferson High School.
The regular season will start on Aug. 29 at Hitchcock. The first home game will be on Thursday, Sept. 4, against Woodville.
