ANAHUAC—The Bayside Community Hospital recently hit a remarkable milestone that only a small number of hospitals in the region have achieved.

On Monday, Jan. 12, Chambers Health announced that the Bayside Community Hospital officially earned Hospital Accreditation from the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to patient safety and quality care.

“This accreditation reflects who we are and how we care for our community every single day,” Chambers Health CEO Ann Newton said. “Our team embraced this process not as a one-time event, but as an opportunity to strengthen our culture of safety, accountability, and excellence in real-time patient care. I am incredibly proud of our staff for their dedication and commitment to those we serve.”

The achievement took months of hospital-wide effort, with every department committing to a shared goal of strengthening infrastructure, reinforcing standards of care, and delivering the highest quality of care for patients and families throughout the community, according to a press release.

“CIHQ’s mission is to work with hospitals to improve care in our communities,” CIHQ CEO Richard Curtis said. “CIHQ is delighted to congratulate Bayside Community Hospital on their accreditation achievement.”

In preparation for accreditation, the hospital adopted a readiness approach aligned with daily practices. Teams conducted unannounced audits, real-time patient care reviews and medical record evaluations, as well as targeted education across departments and the Chambers County Public Hospital District No. 1 Board of Directors.

In addition to these practices, the hospital formed the Community Advisory Committee to collect feedback on patient experience and community perspectives, ensuring that patient care reflects national standards and community expectations.

The CIHQ accreditation was achieved only after an unannounced onsite survey, during which surveyors observed care, reviewed medical records, and spoke with staff.

The accreditation was achieved because the hospital met CIHQ standards, as well as the Conditions of Participation established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

The CIHQ accreditation is a milestone in the hospital’s commitment to patient safety, quality outcomes, and dependable emergency care close to home.
