Deshuan Carrington, a member of Barbers Hill and the St. Emily Church Choir, was named second team all-district in track. He placed first in the district shot put, fourth in regionals, which earned him a spot in the area, where he finished seventh out of 21. At the meet, he broke the Barbers Hill Boys shotput record that had been held for 41 years with a throw of 53’8.25. At the end of April, he did a college visit to Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, where he was offered a track scholarship. Butler will be his home for the next two years.
