CLCND talks economic development, sets assessment rate
ANAHUAC— Chambers Liberty Counties Navigation District met earlier this month, furthering discussions on an economic development plan and setting the assessment rate.
CLCND held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, setting the assessment rate to $0.01017 per $100 of valuation for Chambers County.
Following the workshop discussing economic development opportunities, the board met with representatives from Freese and Nichols to review potential opportunities discussed during the July meeting.
A formal proposal from Freese and Nichols is pending and is expected to be ready in October.
The board received a proposal from Dayton Electric Co., LLC, for a soft-start system at the Lake Anahuac Pumping Plant; however, the district will evaluate alternative options before making a decision.
Following the August discussion on the crawfish industry, the board talked about the water rate for crawfish production. A draft document outlining proposed options and recommendations will be presented at the next board meeting.
The board reviewed a report detailing this year’s certified acreage for rice production, totaling 8,130 acres.
