Deer Park outscores Barbers Hill 37-36

MONT BELVIEU– Haden LaFranz connected with Braylen Ashton-Jackson on a 9-yard touchdown pass with a minute left to lift the Deer Park Deer to an exciting 37-36 win over Barbers Hill on Friday night at Eagles Stadium.

For the second consecutive year, it comes down to the wire.

Deer Park led 9-6 at the half, but a wild second half saw both teams combine for 57 points.

Barbers Hill took the lead with seven minutes remaining on a Brady Barrier 28-yard rushing touchdown. After the successful two-point conversion by the Eagles Carson Hahn, the lead was 36-30.

Barrier finished with 301 yards passing on 23 of 30 attempts, and two passing touchdowns while being intercepted three times by the Deer defense. Barrier added 55 yards on the ground and two more scores.

Tripp Davis was his favorite target with nine catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Bonnet Jr. added five receptions for 88 yards and a score.

The Eagles will travel to Traylor Stadium in Richmond on Friday night for a contest with the Foster Falcons.
