EC holds off Hardin-Jefferson 21-19
WINNIE– Colby West caught seven passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns as the East Chambers Buccaneers held off the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks 21-19 on Friday night at Buccaneers Stadium in a non-district tilt.
Leading 14-7 in the third quarter, East Chambers quarterback JD Zurby connected with West on a 70-yard score to make it a 21-7 lead.
The Hawks then cut the deficit to 21-13 in the third quarter with a touchdown and tightened things up in the fourth quarter with a touchdown pass at the 4:37 mark. The two-point conversion failed, and the Buccaneers held on down the stretch in improving to 2-0 on the season.
Zurby finished 10 of 15 passing for 177 yards and two scores.
Koby Jones led the rushing attack with 129 yards on 19 carries. Darius Edmonson added a rushing touchdown for East Chambers.
Reid Todd led the defense with 14 tackles, while Aiden Baker added 13 tackles with two TFLs.
East Chambers will take the short ride to Liberty on Friday night to battle against the Panthers.
