Barbers Hill outscores Manvel 40-35
MANVEL– The Barbers Hill Eagles jumped out to a big halftime lead and then had to hold off a furious Manvel rally in the second half in defeating the Mavericks 40-35 on Thursday night at Freedom Field.
Barbers Hill (2-0) led 33-7 in the second quarter before a 70-yard touchdown run by Manvel's Xaiden Brown cut the deficit to 33-14 heading into the locker room.
Brady Barrier enjoyed a big night for the Eagles passing as the senior finished 16 of 25 for 365 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 43 yards rushing on the ground and a score.
Tripp Davis was Barrier's favorite target with six catches for 216 yards and a score. Anthony Bonnet Jr. added four catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles will return home on Friday night for a matchup with the Deer Park Deer.
