EC wins Swamp Bowl 35-21 over Anahuac
ANAHUAC— JD Zurby passed for a couple of touchdowns and added a third on the ground to lead East Chambers over Anahuac 35-21 on Friday night in The Swamp Bowl at Kyle White Stadium.
Tied at 21 apiece in the third quarter, Zurby scored on a 10-yard run to put the Buccaneers ahead for good at 28-21 in the third quarter.
Earius Caesar put the game out of reach by scoring from 7 yards out in the fourth quarter to make it a 35-21 lead for East Chambers.
Jaytwan Dowdye had a big game for the Panthers by rushing for 157 yards on 35 carries and a touchdown. Darius Richardson added 65 yards on 16 totes and a score. Braydon Sutch passed for 55 yards and added a rushing touchdown. Oscar Garza had two catches for 47 yards.
Zurby finished 6 of 15 through the air for 159 yards. Ethan West caught two passes for 83 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown catch. Tanner Salazar added a 61-yard touchdown reception for the Buccaneers. Caesar led the ground game with 64 yards on eight carries.
Dalton Dishman led the East Chambers defense with 14 tackles and Aiden Baker added 12.
Anahuac will travel to Buna on Thursday night, while the Buccaneers will host Coldspring on Friday night.
