Lady Panthers battle in early scrimmage
LIBERTY— Last Friday afternoon, the Anahuac Lady Panthers and Liberty Lady Panthers hooked up for a scrimmage as both squads get ready for the upcoming season.
The schools played for about two hours and got in some good work.
The opening game was a back-and-forth affair that saw Liberty outscore Anahuac 25-21.
Liberty jumped in front 7-4 before a kill by Anahuac's Rai'Ana Lewis found a hole in the Liberty defense to make the score 7-5.
With Liberty leading 20-18, Madsion Willis had a nice block/kill to cut the deficit to 20-19.
With Liberty leading 24-21, Bayleigh Taylor had a kill for the home team, ending game one 25-21.
In the second game, Anahuac jumped in front with kills by Addilynn Pierce and Sky Hedges to lead 5-3.
Liberty then responded with a long scoring run to move in front and never looked back in the second game of the scrimmage.
The third game saw an ace by Brayli Van Vickle and a kill by Pierce to put Anahuac ahead 5-2. Later in the game, it was an ace by Willis and a kill by Brogan May that cut the Liberty's lead to 22-19.
Liberty then finished off game three with the final three points to win the third game 25-19.
Anahuac played well in the scrimmage and also had good work from Addison Dugat and Avery Smith.
The Lady Panthers will host Onalaska at home on Friday.
