Anahuac Head Coach Greg Neece talks to his players at practice last week as the Panthers prepare for the 2025 season.

ANAHUAC— The Anahuac Panthers completed their first week on Saturday with an inter-squad scrimmage at Kyle White Stadium.

Now, the Panthers will look to hit someone in a different-colored jersey this Thursday night as the Liberty Panthers come to town for a 6 p.m. scrimmage.

Head Coach Greg Neece's squad will have one more scrimmage next Thursday at home against the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks.

Both scrimmages should have Anahuac ready for the season opener on Aug. 29 at the Hitchcock Bulldogs. Last year, the Bulldogs made it to the third round of the playoffs before falling to Franklin 35-21.

For East Chambers fans, the Buccaneers will play their first scrimmage on Thursday night in Beaumont, as they will play in a three-team scrimmage with Kelly and Deweyville.

That scrimmage should get underway around 6 p.m.
