ANAHUAC– The Liberty Lady Panthers brought out the press on Friday afternoon in Anahuac and used their defense pressure to a 46-11 win over Anahuac in the Battle of Lady Panthers in a non-district match-up.

Liberty jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead on a jumper and a drive by Lyric Brown.

Anahuac then got on the scoreboard as freshman Erica Criswell scored on a drive to make it 8-2.

Liberty followed that up with a 10-0 run as Journey Brown came up with a steal and scored and the lead was 18-2 with 3:45 left in the first half.

The home team would end the run as Rai' Ana Lewis came up with a steal and score to cut the deficit to 18-4.

Back again would come Liberty with a Brown steal and score, and then Bella Elliott scored, and then the 13-0 run was capped off by a Loren Nesbitt three-point play and the visitors went to the locker room with a 31-4 advantage.

Anahuac started the second half with Criswell grabbing an offensive rebound and scoring to make it 31-6. Nesbitt then scored on a Summer Balch assist to run the lead to 37-8.

Early in the fourth quarter, it was Brooklyn Well hitting the offensive boards for Anahuac and scoring to make the score 41-11.

The second half was much better for Anahuac as they were only outscored 15-7.

Nesbitt led Liberty in scoring with 13 points and Brown added 12.

Criswell led Anahuac in scoring with four points while Wells, Lewis and Callie Henicke all chipped in with two points each.

Liberty will be back in action at home on Dec. 2 as they host Silsbee. Anahuac will take part in the High Island Tournament Dec. 4-6.
