TBCD talks bond projects
ANAHUAC— Last week, Trinity Bay Conservation District continued discussions of bond projects, which are now in their beginning phases.
TBCD held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 18, discussing the bonds and maintenance updates.
The 2025 bond application is still being prepared by engineers, but the financial advisor expects to close by the end of the year, according to TBCD Board Attorney Kate Leverette.
Leverette added they will do an expedited review by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Contractors have begun collecting materials for the 20-inch waterline.
Designs for the water tank are about 95% complete, and plans will likely be submitted to TCEQ by the end of the month.
“As soon as we get the money, we’ll bid it out,” Shadden said, noting it sometimes takes a year to sell a bond.
The westside wastewater evaluation study is expected to be completed in about a month. This study will stretch north of Interstate 10 and Texas 61 in populated areas.
District employee Amos Roy provided updates on drainage projects. Floating fences were installed at Oyster Bayou and Spindletop, funded by property owners.
For drainage cleaning, crews worked on Onion Bayou, Elm Bayou north of Fairview, Spindletop north of Interstate 10 and Double Bayou tributary.
Spray crews covered about 18 miles of watershed on the north side of Winnie.
As for utilities, there were 11 water meter installations and nine were changed out, totaling 683 auto-read meters installed since the project began.
Forty-eight meters were pulled from the system, totaling about 200 since the project began.
As of now, 16 water meters and two fire hydrants need installation, and two water line taps need to be made.
