FOOD TRUCK FUSION

The City of Cleveland will be hosting Food Truck Fusion on Oct. 27 & Nov. 17, from 11 am – 1 pm, at its new convenient downtown location, 106 W. Hanson, Cleveland, TX 7327. There will be a variety of food trucks, plus, some fun additions to enjoy!

LML FALL BOOK SALE

The Liberty Municipal Library will hold a fall book sale on Friday, Oct. 28 from 10 am to 4 pm in the upstairs library storage area. Thousands of books are available and new donations of gently used books have recently arrived. Fiction bestsellers, old favorites, scores of cookbooks, books on religion, politicians, royalty, birds, animals, sports, and gardening are among the many subjects. DVDs and magazines are also available. There is a large selection of children’s books. This is the perfect time to find something special that will be perfect for your home library. Drop by and take a look, you might just fall into a great book.

HARDIN CITIZEN OF THE YEAR

Hardin Helping Hands is accepting nominations for the 2022 Citizen of the Year Award. This award is presented annually to an individual who has performed outstanding service and/or made exceptional voluntary contributions to the Hardin community. When selecting the recipient for the award, the committee looks at an individual who meets one or more of the following criteria; Continually gives his or her time and dedicates their talents to the betterment of the community, voluntarily serves on either a service program, school committee or youth program-lending his or her expertise and guidance, lends leadership and vision to a community or service project, and performed a voluntary service that has advanced or helped the quality of life in the Hardin community. Anyone with community contact may nominate someone who they feel meets the criteria of the award. Nomination forms must be submitt ed by Oct. 31. FBC DAYTON FALL FEST

The First Baptist Church of Dayton is hosting its annual Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 5-7 pm. A fun time for the whole family with free food, candy, games, face painting, inflatable slide, jump house, crafts, petting zoo, $1 snow cones and much more. Everyone is Welcome! The church is located at 202 E Houston.

JONES PUBLIC LIBRARY

HALLOWEEN FUN

The Jones Public Library will be hosting a Halloween fun day on Oct. 31, during regular business hours 9 am – 5 pm. We’ll have cartoons and crafts in the morning 9-11 am, Hocus Pocus and games in the afternoon 2-4 pm, with popcorn and candy all day. Costumed Patrons will get to draw from the treasure chest!

DAYTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Dayton Historical Society is excited to announce that Mark McClelland with the American Legion Dayton Memorial Post 512 will be our special guest at 6 pm on Monday, Oct. 31.

McClelland will be speaking about the American Legion and its mission to support veterans, their families, the military, and communities, as well as some on the history of the local organization.

The Dayton Historical Society meets at Parker Hall, 201 S. Hill St, behind the Old School Museum.

OST/VETERANS PARADE

Spectators WANTED in Dayton and Liberty. Gather outdoors on Saturday, November 5 and watch the 4th annual OST / Veterans’ Parade featuring our VETERANS of course who will be parading in style in an assortment of classic/antique cars.

The parade begins at 10:00 am at Dayton’s Community Center and will travel down Highway 90 to Liberty, tour around the courthouse, and then motor back to the Dayton Community Center. Wave flags and have a good time cheering these deserving heroes and admiring the old cars.

The fun continues at the Dayton Community Center, where the cars will be on display till early afternoon. Food trucks will provide fine dining. See you there!

WALK THROUGH HISTORY

Well Church Committees of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and First United Methodist Church, with guidance from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Liberty County, invites you to join them Sunday, Nov. 6 for a Walk-Through History of Downtown Liberty. The walk will start at 3 pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and finish around 5 pm at the First United Methodist Church. The tour will be led by Liberty County Historical Commission. Participation is free. If there is a rain out, the tour will be moved to Nov. 20th. For more information and registration, call 936-334-3230.

DAYTON CHAMBER GOLF TOURNAMENT

Liberty’s Crossroads DCJR dealership will be the presenting sponsor for the Dayton Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament. The golf tournament will be held at the Eagle Pointe Golf Club in Mont Belvieu on November 11th at 9AM. The planning committee for this event is Jordan Thibodeaux with State Farm Insurance and Lucas Gaskamp with Sullins & Johnston Attorneys at Law. HOUSE OF DESTINY FUNDRAISER

The House of Destiny 2nd Annual Fall Festival Fundraiser & 15th Birthday Celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 12. All proceeds from the Fall Festival will go to House of Destiny. House of Destiny is a 501c3 outreach ministry of Encounter church in Votaw. It is a 1-year faith-based Residential Life Recovery home for women ages 19-50 coming off life controlling addictions. Food sales begin at 11am--$10 BBQ Plates for sale with 2 Sausage Links, potato salad, Baked beans, Bread, onions, pickles. Silent Auction beings at noon. Can drinks and water available for $1. Quarter Bingo is from 1-3 pm and will go until all gifts are gone. We will have vendors available from 11 am until 3pm. Food and fun for the family! We will be giving tours throughout the day at House of Destiny to view the new kitchen and let everyone see what God has done this past year! 10x10 Vendor spaces available for $20. ROCK-N-RIDE

DAYTON SENIOR CENTER

The Dayton Senior Center is NOW open Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Lunch is on Wednesday & Fridays with a $3 fee (Must sign-up and pay prior) Sit & Be Fit workout class 12:30 to 1:15 pm; Mondays & Thursdays (starting August) Other programs to come!

TCL TRADE DAYS

The Tarkington Community Library will be hosting TCL Trade Days Saturday, Nov. 12 and Dec. 13 from 9-4 pm. They will have crafts, arts, canned goods, boutiques, quilts, lotions & soaps, and various other booths. Also, the library has a Book Nook that is now open that sells books. LFD SMOKED/ FRIED TURKEY FUNDRAISER

The Liberty Fire Department is hosting a Smoked/ Fried Turkey Fundraiser Nov. 23. They are taking orders from Oct.1 to Nov. 18. A smoked turkey is $55 and fried is $60. You can pick up your turkey at 1912 Lakeland Dr., Liberty, TX 77575 from 10 am to 4 pm. Order forms are available on the website under the Annual Event Tab; www.cityofliberty.org, Fire/ EMS page. All proceeds go to the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, and will be used to purchase gear and other needed equipment.

HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week Tuesday- Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. For more information or to reserve your lunch, call 936-298-3107. The Hardin Community Center is located at 414 CR 2010 in Hardin.

DAYTON OLD SCHOOL MUSEUM

The Dayton Old School Museum is open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays. The museum is located at 111 W. Houston St. in Dayton.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Tuesday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is located at 656 CR 2010 in Hardin, Texas.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

The City of Liberty has Coffee with the Mayor on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 am in council chambers.

AMES CITY COUNCIL MEETING

As the legislative branch of the City of Ames government, the City Council holds open public meetings where local laws, policies, and fundamental decisions for the city are discussed and decided. City Council members are elected at large.

All members are elected at large. The regularly called meetings of the Liberty City Council are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. Special called meetings are typically held on the fourth Tuesday of each month; however, meetings may be reached at any time to conduct necessary business.

PLUM GROVE CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Second Monday of each month Meetings start at 7:00 pm at City Hall.
