Dayton historians to hear program on Akokisa Indians

The Dayton Historical Society will be meeting on Monday, Jan. 31, at 6 PM at Parker Hall in Dayton, TX. They will learn about the Akokisa Indians, an Indian Tribe Native to Liberty County. Guest Speaker, Monte Parks, from the Akokisa Indian Village in Harris County will be joining and leading this meeting. Parks is a Precinct 4 representative to the Harris County Historical Commission. He attended Sam Houston State University, where he obtained a History degree. Parks has worked as an Educational Programmer for Harris County Precinct 4 for nearly 20 years specializing in Texas History programs and has served as a Historical Re-enactor for the Texas Revolution and the Civil War. Apart from his involvement with Harris County, Parks hosts numerous talks on history for historical groups each year throughout Texas.

Parker Hall is located at 111 W. Houston St behind the Dayton Old School Museum.
