The Liberty County Genealogical Society will offer a workshop on Cemetery Research, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m. in the DAR Price Daniel Meeting House behind the historic Cleveland-Partlow House on Grand Avenue. A pre-paid $10 fee is required to cover the cost of lunch. The workshop will start with coffee and breakfast nibbles at 9 a.m. and go straight into the first session shortly thereafter. There will be adequate breaks between sessions to stretch legs, comfort and coffee. Lunch will be catered by Generations Sandwich Shop with a choice of ham and cheese on croissant or homemade chicken salad on croissant with chips and cookie. Drinks will be provided as well.

The workshop will include webinar training on Cemetery Research How To, Tombstone Care and Repair, Find A Grave Best Practices, “I Seek Dead People: Tricks for Researching an Ancestor’s Passing” and other handouts. Cemeteries are interesting and unique areas of genealogical research and many important records can be found if you know where to look. Dates of death and birth, record of spouse, children, parents of target ancestor, occupation of the decedent, religion, fraternal organizations and other civic groups in which your ancestor might have been affiliated and many other clues to your ancestor’s life. Please join us on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. for this great workshop. You must reserve before Monday, Oct. 14, by contacting chapter treasurer, Betty Reeves 713-824-6064 or email: Reevesbetty@gmail.com. You may mail your reservation fee to Betty Reeves, 121 Noble Street, Liberty, TX 77575. Attention: LCGS Workshop on left lower corner.
