LIBERTY - Several U.S. Senate hopefuls are looking to unseat Ted Cruz in next year’s March 5th election, and Democrat Steve Keough believes he has what it takes to pull off the upset.

This past weekend, Keough held a meet-and-greet at Liberty Municipal Park, joined by Liberty County Democratic Party Chairman Micheal Mark.

Keough, a retired Navy captain, patent attorney, and a law school teacher in San Antonio, discussed the importance of key issues such as border and immigration policy, education, and healthcare policies.

Keough also stressed the importance of campaigning in east Texas. “Where does the sun shine first in Texas?” asked Keough, “East Texas.”

Regarding how Keough would fair against his opponent Cruz, Keough said, “With my experience, I can run circles around Ted Cruz, frankly, on a lot of issues. On issues that matter.”
