Tarkington Community Library Trade Days

Posted in:

Private libraries are on the verge of becoming non-existent in their communities, which is the case for the Tarkington Community Library. The desired funding that the library needs to run is no longer being met, and to reach that goal, the librarians have decided to start Trade Days to bring attention and profit to the local library. The Trade days will take place on the 2nd Saturday of each month; August 14th, September 11th, October 9th, November 13th, December 11th at 9:00 am-4:00 pm. There are still tables open for vendors to purchase; the tables are 10x10 outside for $20 and 8x8 inside for $30.

The trade days will consist of different vendors bringing their material to sell to the community. The vendors that have purchased their table and are scheduled to be at the Trade Days consist of antiques, arts and crafts, baked goods, and sweets. There will also be a concession stand run by the librarians and their volunteers that will bring profit to the library. The fundraising is meant for the library to have a new building built and for the community to come together. The Trade Days are intended to raise money and for families in the area to come out and enjoy the day while supporting the vendors and the library. Trade Days are not the only fundraiser that the Tarkington Library hopes to put together. In the future, they hope to have more fundraisers and events to raise the money for a bigger library and provide residents in the community and those in surrounding areas a chance to reconnect with an in-person library and enjoy the books.
