Primary voting starts Monday

Voters will be heading to the polls for Early Voting in the Texas Republican and Democratic Primary this coming Monday, Feb. 14, to select the candidates that will appear on the Tuesday, Nov. 8 General Election ballot for their respective party.

Early voters may cast their ballots at any of four locations around Liberty County, the Jack Hartel Building in Liberty, Dayton Community Center, Hardin City Hall, and Cleveland Civic Center.

The first week of Early Voting will be conducted Monday, Feb. 14, thru Saturday, Feb. 18, 2022, from 9 am-6 pm. There will be an opportunity to vote on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9 am – 1 pm. The final week of early voting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22 - Friday, Feb. 25, from 7 am-7 pm, while Election Day is Tuesday, Mar. 1, from 7 am-7 pm at the following locations.

Liberty County Elections Administrator Klint Bush encourages all voters to check their voting precinct before going to the polls, as several precincts have changed or been combined.

Anyone seeking a ballot by mail has until Friday, Feb. 18, to submit their request by mail to Klint Bush, Elections Administrator, 1923 Sam Houston Street, Liberty, TX 77575.

Voters in Texas must also have one of the following valid identifications to cast their vote:

• Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS

• Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS

• Texas Handgun License issued by DPS

• United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph

• United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph

• United States Passport (book or card)
