Slack honored as 2021 Coach of the Year

In a pre-game ceremony before Liberty’s State Title game with Sweeny on Saturday afternoon at Red and Charlene McCombs Field, Lady Panthers Head Coach Karen Slack was presented with an award for being named the 2021 NFHS Texas State Softball Coach of the Year by the UIL. After receiving her award, Slack then guided Liberty to a 5-0 victory over Sweeny, giving the Lady Panthers back-to-back State Championships. Liberty’s first state title was in 2018. Slack is now a perfect 6-0 at the State Tournament. More amazingly is that Karen has served as Principal of Liberty High School this past year while guiding her team to a 38-6 record and a third State Championship.
