Grand Parkway Opening
After years of preparation and construction, the Grand Parkway is finally set to open through Liberty County and surrounding areas. Before the official opening on Thursday, May 18, there will be a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday. Drivers will have a two day grace period on the toll before being charged.
Mobility Study
The Houston-Galveston Area Council has been conducting a study of Liberty County over the last year. That study has focused on future safety in mobility, with a significant focus on Cleveland, Dayton, and Liberty.
Now HGAC will be holding two public meetings to discuss its findings with the community. The first is today, Thursday, May 12, at 6 pm in the Liberty Center, and the second meeting will be Wednesday, May 18 at 6 pm at the Cleveland Civic Center.
Splash Pad
The City of Liberty is nearing completion on repairs to the Splash Pad at Liberty Municipal Park. They hope to have it open to the public soon.
“We would love to have it open before Memorial Day,” said City Manager Tom Warner.
Recycling Event
The City of Liberty will hold a Shred-It event Saturday, June 4, at Liberty City Hall from 9-11:30 am. They will accept paper and electronics. Televisions and Appliances will not be accepted.
