VFW Post Commander Richard Overbay puts an initial batch of used cemetery flags on wooden shafts as tinder into the ceremonial flames. Next came batches of full-sized cotton flags. Batches of synthetic flags created too much toxic smoke for retirement at Saturday's ceremony.
