A plane crashed at the Cleveland Municipal Airport on Monday, May 3, 2021. Darrell Smith of Duncan, Oklahoma, was piloting the 1965 Beechcraft 55 Baron aircraft when he experienced a complete electrical failure. Smith was forced to belly land the plane onto the runway of the airport.

In nothing short of a miracle, Smith was uninjured in the crash.

Johnny Whitson of Lone Star Aircraft Services and other lo cal tenants at the facility aided Smith.

The landing gear had to be cranked back down after Saddle Creek Towing lifted the aircraft, and the runway was cleared and reopened within a few hours of the crash.
