People lined the streets to honor United States Army Specialist Jerry Offer as his body was transported back to Liberty County. Offer unexpectedly passed away on April 24 at his residence. Offer was raised in Liberty County from a young age and graduated from Liberty High School in 2015. He enlisted in the United States Army as a 68W combat medic.

Offer was given an escort through Dayton down Highway 90 into Liberty as onlookers waved and honked as a tribute to his service. A massive flag was hung from the ladder of a firetruck near The Trinity River bridge in Liberty and it waved in the wind as the procession moved into town. Numerous first responder vehicles escorted the procession through town to Allison Funeral Service on Travis.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, May 5, in the chapel at Allison Funeral Service. The funeral will be on Thursday, May 6 at 10 am at Cornerstone Church, immediately followed by a graveside service and committal with full military honors.
