Mitchell Glenn Deckert, aged 63, passed away peacefully on Oct. 29 at Hospice in The Pines in Lufkin. Mitchell was born on Sept. 30, 1956 to parents Joe E. Deckert and Joyce Ellen McCreight Deckert.

Mitchell loved the Dallas Cowboys, Elvis Presley and of course the Hull Daisetta Bobcats. He loved to sing, play his music box and enjoyed talking to everyone. Mitchell resided at Lufkin State Supported Living Center in Lufkin for 55 years before Jesus took him to heaven. We will miss him very much but being a Christian we know we will get to see him again.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Charlie and Myrtle McCreight, and Joe and Rissie Deckert. He has left to cherish his memory his sister, Karen Gandy of Hull; brother, Bevil Deckert and wife Diana of Port Neches; nieces, Heather Johnson of Alvin, Felicia Scott and friend Rick of Hull, Kara Metcalf and husband Jared of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; nephews, Brandon Deckert and wife Crystal of Groves, Johnathon Deckert of Groves; great-nephew, Zachary Deckert of Groves; great-nieces, Anistyn Deckert of Groves; Madalyn Metcalf of Pittsburg, Avery June Metcalf of Pittsburg; and many other loving relatives and friends.

A special thank you to all the staff at Lufkin State Supported Living Center for all the years you have provided such wonderful care of our loving precious Mitchell.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
