Breaux and Montes named 1st team in 9-5A DII

DAYTON — District 9-5A DII featured the Class 5A-DII State Champion Port Neches-Groves Indians and was a challenging and competitive district.

Isaiah Nguyen of the Indians was named the district’s MVP.

The Offensive MVP was Joey Duran of Texas City, while the Defensive MVP was Jonathan Hernandez of PNG.

The Newcomer of the Year was also from the Indians in quarterback Connor Bailey and the Special Teams Player of the Year was Maurice Burton of Texas City.

Dayton’s Zach Breaux was named first-team wide receiver.

Punter Brayan Montes from the Broncos was also named first-team.

Landing on the second team was Dayton quarterback Denim Foster.

Named to the Honorable Mention Team for the Broncos are Quentin Dugat, Marcus James, Dawson Victorian, Caleb Ramirez and Jakari Cooper.

Head Coach Blake Ware leads Dayton.
