THOUGHTFUL THINGS

Beware of the Blades

Have you ever wondered what if? What if this happened, or what if that happened? It is the “not knowing” that can get our imagination going. But for some, they never wonder about that unknown or what if’s that life may bring.

I think we must always have faith and trust God in every aspect of our lives and know that God will bring us through whatever we face. God also gives us the knowledge and understanding that we must be aware of our surroundings and lifestyles in order to abstain from the tricks and snares that Satan has set for each of us every day.

The consuming, self- destructive nature of sin is like an old technique thought to have been used by Eskimos to kill wolves.

You think the enemy can’t trick you? It has been said that the Eskimo kills predator wolves by first he coats the blade of a knife with an animals’ blood and allows it to freeze. He then adds and freezes more layers of blood until the blade is completely thickened and covered with frozen blood. No one but the one coating the knife will even recognize it he is so cunning with it. Next, he plants the knife in the snow with the blade facing up and goes about his business. When a wolf finds his way to the luring aroma of fresh blood, he starts licking it slowly. Then as the fresh blood brings out his natural craving for blood he then licks more and more vigorously, lapping it until the sharp blade of the knife is exposed. But by this point his desire for fresh blood is so intense that the wolf does not notice the sharp sting of the blade on his own tongue nor does he even realize that his ravenous craving is now being satisfied by his very own blood! By light of dawn, the Eskimo will find him lying dead in the snow; dead by his own blood.

Sin seduces us the same way. Satan lures us to the place where he longs to ravage us with destructive pleasure. Once we give in to lust our craving increases. When we continue to allow ourselves to indulge, it grips us all the more and before we know it we are completely consumed by sin. Satan is not your friend! He comes only to rob, kill and destroy everyone. There is no more time to give in to his destructive ways! Think about it and take inventory of your life. What hinders you from a true relationship with God? If God comes today what would keep you from heaven? Do you harbor resentment for someone to the point that when you think about them you could lose control of your feelings and as the old saying goes, ‘your blood boils’? Think about it. There is nothing biblical to keep the Lord from coming now! Eternity is the most serious decision any of us will ever make. We must strive to walk in holiness and righteousness for the glory of God’s Kingdom! There is so much work to be done!

If you think the enemy is not out for you be careful of what crosses your mind. There is all out spiritual warfare for you and me! No one is exempt! Beware of the blades in your life.
