Question– What Does The Bible Say About Islam?

Answer The Bible is silent about Islam. There is only one God, and He is Sovereign over all. He created all things in 6 days and rested on the 7th. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for the sins of the world, and Jesus was deity in the flesh who came down and suffered and died for all of mankind so that we might be saved.

No mention is made in the Bible of Mohammed, the prophet of Islam. Islam started in 622 CE when Muhammad migrated to Medina. He is believed to have received his first revelation for the Quran in 610CE. This makes this religion only about 1400 years old. This makes it about 600 years too late to be the true church and biblical path of God.

The rise of Islam coincided with significant political and social changes in the Middle East, including the emergence of powerful empires and interaction between eastern cultures.

Islam is one of the fastest-growing religions in the world. This is due in large part to its many parties and philosophies. There are two main branches (Sunni and Shia). Within these two branches, there are further subdivisions and interpretations, including Sufi sm, Salafism and other various schools and sects. The largest group of Muslims is the Sunnis. They compose about 85-90% of Muslims globally. The second largest branch (Shi’a comprises about 10-13% of Muslims and is the more radical of the two.

Subdivisions within Sunni Islam are: Hanafi, Maliki-Shafi ’i and Hanbali. Other significant groups are Sufism-Salafism, Ahmadiyya and Kharijites.

Islam continues to adapt and evolve with new movements and interpretations emerging all the time. Some have estimated that there are over 73 sects of Islam. There are five pillars of the Islamic faith: The shahada (declaration of faith), prayers (salah), almsgiving (zakat), fasting (sawm) and pilgrimage (hajj).

The Bible views false religions as those that deviate from the truth, including the worship of false gods, the rejection of Jesus as deity and the promotion of practices that contradict God’s WORD. John 14:6 says, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Light; no man comes to the Father but by Me.” Jesus said in John 5:23“whoever does not honor the Son, does not honor the Father who sent him.” 2 John 9-11 says“he that goes on and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God, but he who abides in those teaching has both the Father and the Son.” In verse 11, we are prohibited from wishing them well or having them in our company, lest we be seen as bidding them godspeed in their error. Ephesians 5:11 tells us, “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather reprove them.” This tells me that Islam is a false religion and that I should avoid it rather than embrace it. Since it denies the God of the Bible and His Son, I am not to act like it is all alright to believe their teachings. This is true of any religion that is not in accordance with God’s Word.
