Assault leads to arrest, additional drug charges
BAYTOWN– A Sour Lake man was arrested last week after an alleged altercation in Hankamer on several charges.
Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were alerted to a reported altercation, where the man was alleged to have threatened a woman and child with a firearm on Monday, Aug. 4.
According to a news release from the CCSO, a warrant was obtained for Terry Pierre Walden, 39, after investigators were able to make an identification based on witness statements and video evidence in the area of the incident.
Warrants were issued for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Deputies were able to locate Walden on I-10 in the Baytown area on Thursday, Aug. 7, without incident.
Once in custody, Walden was taken to the Chambers County Jail, where he was found to have concealed suspected narcotics. Twenty-one grams of cocaine, as well as 85 grams of methamphetamine, were found on his person.
Two additional second-degree felony charges of possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1, and a third-degree felony charge of a prohibited substance/item in a correctional facility were added.
Sheriff Brian Hawthorne applauded the efforts of law enforcement.
“This case is a great example of going above and beyond, showing true dedication to our profession, our agency and the community we serve,” Hawthorne said. “Excellent teamwork from start to finish from the deputies and detectives who initiated the case and completed the investigative groundwork to remove a violent, repeat offender from our county’s streets.”
