Santa and Mrs. Claus brightened children's day last year at the Hardin Helping Hands Christmas event. The event returns this Friday night at Hardin Elementary School.

Hopefully, everyone got plenty of turkey and dressing and took a great nap after all of the pie, because Christmas time is officially here.

Now attention turns to the most joyous time of year, but let’s be honest, it looks like that happened as soon as the last kid said, “trick or treat.” Anyway, now comes a full slate of holiday events across the county, sure to bring good tidings and cheer to anyone.

This Tuesday marks the third week of Christmas cheer in the city of Liberty, which has been busy celebrating the season over the past couple of weeks. Now comes the Christmas Light Parade, Strolling Carolers, and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance.

Downtown Liberty has been transformed into a scenic holiday attraction, with plenty to see and do, especially if you are looking for a variety of photo booth options. Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center will also have free refreshments for those in attendance.

Next Friday, Dec. 5, the holiday fun gets underway in Dayton and Hardin, as both communities come together to celebrate the season.

In Dayton, the annual Cookie Crawl, sponsored by the Trinity Valley Chamber of Commerce, will bring lots of incredible holiday treats as folks make their way to local businesses throughout the community.

Some vendors will also set up at the Dayton Community Center, oh, and of course, Liberty is joining in on the fun, with businesses around town getting in on the action. Any businesses that do not have a storefront and wish to participate can also set up at the Vara Faye Martin Daniel Pavilion in Liberty.

That event in both communities is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m.

Hardin will celebrate with its annual tree lighting, parade, and presentation of the 2025 Citizen of the Year. There will also be booths, and of course, Santa will be stopping off in Hornet country for a visit or two with the kids.

The event, hosted by Hardin Helping Hands, will be held at Hardin Elementary School and the fun starts at 5: 30 p. m. There is a possibility this event will be moved to Sunday, Dec. 7. In fact, let’s all hope it is, because that means the Hardin Hornets will be in the Region III Championship game next weekend. So, go Hornets.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p. m., the Dayton community will gather once more for the annual Spirit of Christmas celebration, with the big parade and Christmas tree lighting. Oh, and you guessed it, Santa will be stopping by to hear the kids’ lists this year.

That same day, Cleveland will get in on the action with its annual Hometown Christmas celebration. Events are planned throughout the day, with the Holiday Market running from noon to 5 p.m., and the parade is set for 6 p.m.

These are just a few of the events coming up, and there are still plenty more ahead. And we will keep you updated throughout the season. Also, remember all events are subject to change.
